U.S. Carriers Joining Forces to Alleviate Supply Chain Issues

Like many industries across the world, facilities management has been affected by the global supply chain bottlenecks, as our editor-in-chief, Dan Weltin, discussed in a recent editorial in Building Operating Management.
According to a report in online political website The Hill, major goods carriers are stepping up their game to help with the logjam. Walmart, FedEx and UPS are moving toward 24-hour shipping seven days a week to help alleviate the bottlenecks, which have driven up prices and forced longer wait periods for goods. Other providers are also expected to ramp up delivery service 24/7.
Facility managers are feeling the crunch as they wait longer and are forced to pay more for even basic products like cleaning supplies, toilet paper, and other facility needs.
Ports are also increasing their hours to round-the-clock service. The Port of Los Angeles is joining the port of Long Beach in moving operations to 24/7 service.
