A quarter century ago, this magazine debuted. The launch was the first venture for a decades-old company seeking new life. Called Maintenance Solutions at the time, the magazine delivered focused, essential information to maintenance and engineering managers, who were just beginning to emerge as a profession.
The facilities marketplace has changed a great deal since then, the magazine changed its name to Facility Maintenance Decisions in 2014, and now, our company is changing.
The first change involves the man who created this magazine, our CEO Bob Wisniewski, retired after 45 years with Trade Press Media Group. Bob and another top manager bought the company in 1988 and launched this magazine five years later. From that beginning, the company has rolled out a host of print, electronic and educational products. One high profile offering is the National Facilities Management & Technology (NFMT) Conference/Exposition, which returned to Baltimore in March, for the 18th year.
The second change involves our new owner, Forum Media Group, a German company that has more than 1,200 employees in 17 countries. Jeff Schenk, who had been chief operating officer and CFO of Trade Press, is now our president and CEO. The acquisition brings us exciting opportunities, including support for more new offerings. The new ProFM credential, which was developed by Trade Press/NFMT and Holmes Corp., launched in February and debuted at NFMT Baltimore.
Facility Maintenance Decisions magazine, along with our website, www.facilitiesnet.com, will continue to provide readers with vital information to keep facilities safe, reliable, energy efficient and sustainable.
We’re happy to be part of the Forum family, and I’m pleased I have the opportunity to tell Bob two words that have been 25 years in the making: Thank you.
