Terrorism Threat Still Prominent in Executives’ Minds
A recent online survey reveals that terrorism is still high on the list of crisis situations worried about by corporate executives.
A recent online survey reveals that terrorism is still high on the list of crisis situations worried about by corporate executives.
The survey, conducted by Harris Interactive, polled 197 full-time executives with a job title of “senior manager” or higher, working for a U.S. corporation with $1 billion or more in annual revenues.
The top crisis situation worry is compromise of corporate information systems, with 61 percent. That is followed by terrorism with 55 percent, and corporate malfeasance with 40 percent of executives reporting their top worry, according to the survey.
"The fact that, more than five years after 9/11, more than half of business leaders are still worried about terrorism is a significant finding,” says Mike Dabadie, division president of Harris Interactive’s Brand and Strategic Consulting practice about the 55 percent who named terrorism as their top worry.
The least worrisome, according to the survey, is product recalls with 47 percent of executives citing it as not a worry at all, and product contamination or tampering, with 44 percent.
