Twenty leading construction associations have united to publish a consensus set of contract documents called ConsensusDOCS.

A variety of construction associations produce standard form construction contracts, but standard contracts published by one association are perceived as ultimately favoring that association's membership. Also, growing industry frustration exists that heavily modified standard-form documents hardly resemble the original text.

The release of ConsensusDOCS represents the first time broad industry representation has had an equal voice in collaboratively drafting construction contracts.
Among the organizations participating are: the National Roofing Contractors Association; the Plumbing Heating and Cooling Contractors; the National Association of State Facilities Administrators; the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association; and the Mechanical Contractors of America.

Consensus-contract documents include: general contracting; collaborative documents; design-build; construction management at risk; subcontracting; and program management.
