Facilities Pros: Don’t Miss These 2025 Updates

For the past few months, editors at Building Operating Management have been hard at work developing new offerings for our readers.

I'm not one to make New Year's resolutions. However, I do see the start of the year as an opportunity to reflect on the past and refocus efforts for the future. For the past few months, editors at Building Operating Management have been hard at work developing new offerings for our readers. I’m excited to finally share some of what we have in store for 2025.

Last month we launched a quarterly interactive version of Building Operating Management. This digital publication is similar to the one you are currently reading, but includes multimedia elements such as video and audio content to enhance your experience. You should have received your first issue via email in January and you can expect the next one in April. Use the QR code if you missed it and want to check it out.

Speaking of audio content, the “Facilities In Focus” podcast debuts this month. Associate Editor Mackenna Moralez shares in-depth and personal facility management stories that I hope you find as informative and entertaining as I do. Each season runs for six episodes focusing on one central topic. For our first season, Moralez explores emergency preparedness and talks with a Caesar’s Superdome facility executive about the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, a K-12 school superintendent whose measures successfully stopped an active shooter threat, a Facility Influencer stuck in Maui during the Hawaiian wildfires, and more. Look for a new episode every other week on FacilitiesNet, iTunes, Spotify, or wherever you download your podcasts.

Finally, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the upcoming NFMT Conference in Baltimore happening March 25-27. Although the event itself isn't new and has been around for more than 20 years, we have some fantastic additions planned. I’m most excited by our editor-led conversations with industry experts in the expo hall. You can find these sessions in the new "Show Central" area right in the middle of the show floor where NFMT and the co-located Clean Buildings Conference meet. Grab a seat and learn about skills for new facility managers, emergency response plans, energy service contracts, and much more.

It’s our goal to continually improve our reader experiences and I hope these new offerings provide value to you. We'd appreciate you sharing any feedback with our editorial staff.
