What energy efficiency challenges has the facility expansion created?
Making changes to controllers in a fully operating hospital. Maintaining the environment in the CVOR's.

Would you briefly describe the steps your department has taken to reduce energy use by chilled-water and steam systems?
We implemented automatic control of primary CHW Delta-T and implemented hot water reset based on OA temp.

How much has the hospital saved by optimizing the operation of these systems?
Savings for 2011 were approximately $1.6 Million.

Describe how your department partnered with other hospital departments to enhance energy efficiency?
I served on the ASHE Energy Conservation Task Force and we are members of the DOE's Commercial Energy Alliance.

Moving forward, what is the next energy-efficient project your department is planning?
Retro commissioning our Clinical Care Center, which has three Energy Star awards.
