Portfolio Manager, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s on-line energy rating system for commercial buildings, now includes greenhouse gas emission factors.

Portfolio Manager is an interactive energy management tool for tracking and assessing energy and water consumption in a business’ facility portfolio. The emissions factors for carbon dioxide are from EPA's Emissions & Generation Resource Integrated Database.

With the integration of this data, businesses can see how the carbon dioxide emissions of their buildings compare to others in their region and across the country.

For example, a typical office building in the New England region generates 20 pounds of carbon dioxide per square foot. An Energy Star office building in this region contributes 15 pounds per square foot.
