Website Offers Visual Guide to Coronavirus Outbreak

  February 21, 2020

Across China and around the world, tens of thousands of people have been infected with the coronavirus, which causes pneumonia-like symptoms. Thousands more are under medical observation.

The BBC offers 10 maps and graphics designed to explain the coronavirus outbreak.

The virus has killed more than 2,000 so far — more than the 774 killed in the 2003 SARS epidemic.

There was also a significant increase in the number of cases reported on Feb.13. This increase is mostly due to a change in the way patients are being diagnosed in Hubei province — the center of the outbreak.
