Hurricane Milton made landfall on Wednesday night along Florida’s west coast. Damage reports came out through various media outlets throughout the evening and will continue for the next few days as damage to both residential homes and institutional and commercial buildings will be revealed.

The early stages of Milton’s landfall produced some striking images in the Tampa Bay area.

Two of the first enduring images of the storm unfolded early Wednesday as the storm hit landfall as a Category 3 hurricane.

The first one was the roof blowing off the home of the Major League Baseball Tampa Bay Rays. The stadium, located in St. Petersburg, was set up as a staging site for 10,000 first responders and line workers on hand to help the area recover from the storm.

The ethylene tetrafluorethlene roof was built to withstand winds of up to 115 miles per hour according to the team’s website.

In downtown St. Petersburg, multiple videos surfaced online of a crane collapsing at a construction site where a high-rise condo building was being built. The crash left a hole in the building that houses several businesses.

No injuries were reported because of either incident.
