Federal Government Issues Guidance on Flu Prevention and Response



The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and its Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have rolled out efforts designed to improve state, local and community preparedness for an influenza pandemic.




The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and its Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have rolled out efforts designed to improve state, local and community preparedness for an influenza pandemic.

The guidelines focus on community-level measures that could be used during an influenza pandemic in an effort to reduce the spread of infection. The guidelines incorporate a planning tool, called the Pandemic Severity Index (PSI), for use by states, communities, businesses, schools and others.
