An ASHE survey has found that essential electrical systems in health care facilities are highly reliable, starting up properly and delivering power throughout an outage about 98 percent of the time. The survey also found that most hospitals keep generators and fuel storage above the flood plain — an especially critical point in light of Hurricane Sandy and other floods that have raised concerns about hospital emergency preparedness.
