Stanley Commercial Hardware has recalled some of its locksets because the lock can become stuck in the locked position, posing an entrapment hazard. In the United States, the company has recalled about 13,500 Grade 1 mortise lever locks in the QMS/QME 100 Series after eight reports of lockset latch failures. No injuries have been reported, according to U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall 19-046. The company sold another 800 locksets in Canada and 200 in Mexico.
The company sold the recalled locksets between December 2013 and June 2018 in 15 different configurations, such as privacy, dormitory, and corridor. The recall notice provides a full list of recalled models, mortise case numbers, and function descriptions. A sticker on the side of the mortise case lists the model/series numbers. In an installed lock, this sticker would be found inside the door cavity.
