Twelve reports of the back of a commonly used office chair breaking and causing the user to fall have caused the manufacturer TJX to recall its line of office chairs. Ten injuries have been reported because of the defective chair, including a concussion, strains, numbness, contusions, and bruising, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall notice.
The recall affects nearly 82,000 chairs purchased in multiple colors at Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, HomeGoods, and Homesense stores nationwide from June 2019 through December 2022. One of the following style numbers is printed on a hang tag attached to the product: GT646, GT646A, GT646AA, GT646AB, GT646AABO.
Facility managers should immediately have their occupants stop using the chairs and contact the manufacturer for a refund.
