Hybrid work policies have changed – and continue to change – the workplace and workforce. A new survey of executives that includes facilities management and security personnel indicates that hybrid work settings are now impacting the bottom line for businesses.
Envoy, an integrated workplace platform, recently released a guide on solving workplace challenges and found that 47 percent of the more than 440 interviewed say that critical company decisions have been delayed due to remote or hybrid work policies. Executives and managers indicated in the survey that the hybrid setting is draining resources and impacting the bottom line.
An evaluation of the data can be found here.
Key findings from the survey includes:
- More than 40 percent of organizations allocate more than 11 hours monthly to generating space utilization reports, with some spending over 40 years a month on the reports.
- Sixty percent of workplace leaders still manually gather employee attendance data for real estate decisions, highlighting a significant inefficiency in data management.
- While 76 percent of companies rely on badge swipes or Wi-Fi access for attendance data, they lack comprehensive space utilization insights, limiting their ability to optimize workplace layouts effectively.
- Organizations are wasting space, as 17 percent of organizations report that over a quarter of their space is either unused or underutilized, indicating significant potential for space optimization and cost savings.
