JPMorgan Chase recently revealed a renovation of its 2 million-square-foot facility in Columbus, Ohio, that is the workplace for more than 12,000 employees.

The four-story building at 1111 Polaris Parkway in Columbus is a 27-year-old building that was transformed into a sustainable facility that recently achieved LEED Gold Status from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The redesign took the company six years to complete and involved 300 construction workers daily and 90 different vendors.

Among the highlights of the renovation, according to a press release from the company:

  • Nearly 7,700 solar modules were installed on the building’s rooftop and more than 32,000 solar panel carports installed in the campus parking lots. The panels meet 75 percent of the building’s electricity needs.
  • More than 17,000 LED lighting fixtures and 2,600 occupancy sensors, cutting lighting energy consumption in half.
  • Smart lighting control systems allowing for automatic dimming to incorporate daylight harvesting and individual fixture lighting controls into operations.
  • Automatic faucets and flush valves saved a half-gallon of water per minute from the faucets and 1.6 gallons of water from the flush valves.
  • 80 percent of the building materials from the renovation were recycled.
  • Upgrades to the client center, restaurants, cafes and food halls and meeting rooms were also part of the renovation.
