Recalled Sit/Stand Workstations Pose Injury Hazard

  May 21, 2019

The gas cylinders on about 76,000 sit/stand workstations which enable the workstation to be raised or lowered can separate and forcefully discharge, posing an injury hazard. The manufacturer, Knape & Vogt, received two incident reports involving the workstations, including one where the gas canister shot out and damaged drywall in an office, prompting the recall. No injuries to individuals have been reported, according to U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall 19-121.

The recalled workstations were sold under several brand names, including Adas Elevo Sit-to-Stand Desktop, K&A Manufacturing Helium Surface, 3M Precision Standing Desk, Inscape Rockit, Neutral Posture Ergonomics StandUp X1, Workrite Ergonomics Solace Desktop, Volante, and IMOVR Ziplift. The workstations measure about 36 inches wide by 24 inches deep. They were sold between October 2016 and February 2019.

The recalled workstations have a Lot Number label on the inside of the right hand top surface bracket, The Lot Numbers start with 16, 17, 18, or 18 and end with “VOL.”

Facility managers affected by this recall can contact Knape & Vogt for a free in-office repair of their workstations. They can reach out by phone or online at www.kv.com.
