Recalled Office Chairs Can Break In Use

  August 4, 2020

By Naomi Millán

HON Gateway office chairs have been recalled because the back of the chair can break, posing an injury or fall hazard. The company has received two reports of minor injuries among 11 reports of chair back failure, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

About 13,400 chairs manufactured from February 2019 through February 2020 have been recalled. The affected HON model numbers are HGTMM and HGV1MM. The recalled chairs were also sold under the Maxon brand, in the MXMO series, model numbers M-SEMO201 and M-SEMX101. The chairs have a black mesh see-through back and a five-star base with wheels.

Facility managers should remove the recalled chairs from use and contact HON for a free replacement back, including installation instructions. HON can be reached at 800-833-3964. Maxon can be reached at 800-876-4274.
