  July 25, 2017

By Naomi Millán

Hazen Mesh Task chairs from Staples have been recalled because the base of the chair can break, posing a fall hazard. Staples has received 20 incident reports related to the chairs, including three reports of injuries, according to U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall 17-180.

The recall affects about 124,000 chairs sold at Staples stores, and online at staples.com, staplesadvantage.com, and quill.com from October 2014 to April 2017.

The chair has a five-wheel base, black fabric seat cushion, and black mesh seat back. Under the cushion, a white label is printed with SKU number 1058246 and item number 26680.

Facility managers affected by the recall are directed to stop using the chairs and contact Staples for a free replacement base. Staples can be reached at 866-755-1321, at www.seatingrecall123.com, or at www.staples.com.
