The Apex Series of 15- to 25-ton packaged cooling and heating units from Coleman Heating and Air Conditioning uses independent scroll compressors with individual refrigerant circuits to deliver part-load operation.

The ZW Series models, including those with an economizer, are four-stage units with four compressors, featuring a convertible airflow design. The ZS and ZK models are two-stage units with two compressors. In all models, gas and electric utility knockouts on the units’ sides and bottom eliminate the need for panel cutting to allow for connections.

Charged with R-410A refrigerant, the units have an energy efficiency ratio (EER) ranging from 10.4 to 12.4. Gas/electric units feature electronic spark ignition and power vented combustion with steady state efficiencies (SSE) of 80 percent.

Although units in the Apex line are primarily designed for curb mounting on a roof, they can also be slab-mounted at ground level or set on steel beams above a finished roof. All models are self-contained and assembled on rigid, permanently attached, full-perimeter base rails with holes in the four corners for overhead rigging.

Every unit in the line is completely piped, wired, charged and tested at the factory to simplify field installation. Compressors, electric heater elements and aluminized steel tubular heat exchangers carry a five-year warranty.
