Osram Sylvania is adding the Lightify BR30 and Lightify RT5/6 (RGBW and Tunable White versions) to the Osrama Lightify smart connected lighting portfolio, offering more options for the commercial market to deliver personalized lighting.
Osram Lightify is a portfolio of cost-effective indoor and outdoor lighting products that can be controlled and automated via an app on a mobile device to help save energy, enhance comfort, personalize the environment, and experience joy and fun. With Lightify, business owners can craft the right ambiance at their restaurant or bar. Consumers can complement their décor and decorate a living room or a child’s bedroom with colorful light, and dynamically change the atmosphere to suit a particular mood. They can also add a creative touch to their outdoor landscaping with Lightify.
“Light has never been so enriching, helpful, individualized and networked. Osram Lightify brings the future of lighting into the business or home today,” says Aaron Ganick, head of Lightify Innoventure NAFTA, Osram Sylvania. “Businesses want to personalize their environments for their employees and customers without breaking the bank. Now, electrical distributors, contractors, specifiers and architects can provide affordable, smart connected lighting that adapts to the desires and lifestyle of their customers at any time from any place easily via their mobile device.”
Perfect for downlight and retrofitting existing or new downlight applications respectively, the Lightify BR30 RGBW and Lightify RT5/6 RGBW offer color changing (Mixing Red, Green and Blue) and Tunable White (1900K-6500K) light. Being able to deliver 1900K smart connected light is an industry first and ideal for environments that want a warm, cozy setting like hospitality. For applications that don’t need color changing, there is also a version of the products that delivers just controllable Tunable White light. The LED solutions are dimmable at each set color temperature and have a long 20,000 hour life rating.
The Osram Lightify lighting system begins with a wireless Gateway that can be plugged into a standard wall outlet, and wirelessly syncs with the existing Wi-Fi network in your business. Other gateways require plugging the device into a router, taking up spots and limiting you to where the gateway can be placed. With LIGHTIFY, you can place the Gateway anywhere you want. The Gateway connects to Lightify devices (up to 50 per each Gateway) via ZigBee standards.
In addition to the new RGBW and Tunable White versions of the Lightify BR30 and Lightify RT5/6, the Lightify portfolio also includes a true A19 Tunable White 60W replacement LED bulb which delivers over 800 lumens, unlike other 60W replacements that offer less lumens and therefore less brightness. It has an adjustable color temperature, meaning it can go from a warm 2700 Kelvin light up to a 6500 Kelvin cool white, at any dimness level. There are also flexible, color changing, indoor LED light strips. Business owners and consumers can benefit from that same color control functionality outdoors with Gardenspot Mini RGB LED lights, perfect for enhancing any landscape. Also available will be an A19 60W replacement RGBW LED bulb, which can provide up to 16 million colors to match a scene or mood, and has tunable white functionality. Osram will be offering ZigBee smart switches that will initially provide on/off/dim functions with the ability to control multiple scenes in the future.
The free, user-friendly Lightify App, which runs on Apple iOS7 or above and Android 4.1 or above, offers a variety of practical and playful options to control the lighting system and is simple to use, convenient and secure. With the app, you can choose colors, set personal lighting scenes, color match the lighting to a picture on your mobile device, or pre-set various schedule-based lighting features at any time from any place in the world via an Internet connection. For example, you could set your lights to automatically be a cool blue in the morning to help you wake up and be alert, and a warmer orange in the evening when you are relaxing. The app and system also offer features that allow you to group bulbs together so you can control a whole room at once, rather than having to individually change each lamp in a living room, for example.
Another differentiator is Lightify’s easy and secure set up. The Lightify system can be up and running in three quick and simple steps. The first step is to create a Lightify account and register and scan the Gateway using the smart device. The second step is to sync the Gateway with the local wireless network, and the final step is to power on the light sources in order to pair them to the Gateway.
