Hubbell Lighting has introduced a new option to the commercial downlight market. LiteBox Plus, an extension of the LiteBox family, is an entry-level commercial downlight targeting distributors and contractors who remain price sensitive to using LEDs in general downlighting applications.

CFL has met its last stand.

LiteBox Plus, the first product Prescolite has created that will appeal mostly, but not exclusively, to the distribution channel, is a 6-inch LED downlight and wall wash module designed for use in new construction, commercial, and remodel applications. While the new product will assume the profile of the traditional LiteBox product, the “Plus” showcases new functionality, inclusive of a dimming option unique to the market. Distributors and contractors now have the option of an LED product at the same price point of a CFL with longer life, dimming capabilities and energy savings.

In an industry first, contractors will now have the ability to select the dimming option directly at the J-Box. The integral high efficiency LED driver 120-277V 50/60Hz is compatible with 120-277V low voltage and 120V Triac dimming, and features a dimming range that is 100 percent to one percent light output.

“LiteBox Plus is the first Prescolite product to feature both 0 and 10V and Triac dimming as a standard feature,” says Chris Hogan, vice president, brand management indoor architectural at Hubbell Lighting. “We’re proud to be one of the first to give contractors and installers the ability to select the dimming option directly at the J-Box without having to worry about compatibility issues on the jobsite.”

Additionally, LiteBox Plus features three lumen output levels that are comparable to 26 and 32 watt CFL, while consuming only 10 to 20 watts respectively. The high efficacy LED light engine offers 2700K to 4000K at 90 CRI and is integrated with a durable aluminum heat sink for excellent thermal management.

LiteBox Plus was designed with the contractor in mind so installation is made simple through a system that is versatile and seamless. It features standard torsion springs rather than the tension springs found on many entry level downlights. There is only one electrical connection in the housing.

“While LEDs have made significant strides in a majority of lighting markets, one area where CFL continues to dominate is non-spec grade commercial applications,” said Jamal Smith, senior product manager commercial downlighting at Hubbell Lighting. “With LiteBox Plus, the price and performance attributes of CFL in these applications no longer hold up.
