A building or campus mass notification system (MNS) must be flexible, reliable and feature-rich to meet the facility’s emergency needs. Notifier’s ONYX Series with DVC allows organizations to check all relevant boxes in their mass notification strategy by providing a wealth of features and functionality, including but not limited to:
• the ability to target specific buildings — or even particular sections of buildings — with real-time voice messages
• the capability to push out notifications to multiple buildings at once
• survivability enabled by battery backups
• supervision functionality
• high level of intelligibility
• the ability to integrate channels like text messaging and social media into the MNS
• capability of controlling LED signs on campus and use them for mass notification
• large speaker arrays, or a giant voice system, that can be installed on the outside of buildings to reach people nearby and are controlled, monitored and activated by the fire alarm and MNS
• compliance with relevant codes and standards, such as: NFPA 72 National Fire Alarm & Signaling Code, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, UL 864 Standard for Control Units for Fire Alarm Systems, and UL 2572 Standard for Control and Communications Units of Mass Notification Systems
These capabilities, combined with a well thought-out emergency plan, can enable a proactive emergency communications approach for virtually any facility or multi-building complex.
