Norton Door Controls, an Assa Abloy Group brand, is demonstrating the 5800 Series ADAEZ low energy and regenerative power door operators at Greenbuild 2016. GreenCircle, a third-party certifier of product sustainability claims, recently verified the 5800 Series ADAEZ operators to offer 94-100% reduction in energy consumption, as compared to similar products.

Ideal for moderate to high-traffic applications, the 5800 Series ADAEZ provides the same level of reliability, functionality and durability as comparable operators. A compact, door-mounted design is a unique advantage that allows each ADAEZ unit to operate within the tightest of spaces. Each model comes standard with pre-programmed RF push buttons, to meet ADA requirements.

As one of the only regenerative power door operators, the ADAEZ Pro model consumes no power and requires no wiring. The operator’s unique regenerative power system charges an onboard battery pack that eliminates the need to run electrical wire to the unit. When used in automatic mode 25% of the time or less, the ADAEZ Pro will self-generate enough power to charge the battery pack for up to 12 years. It ships standard with two wireless RF push buttons.

The ADAEZ Pro Plus is made for applications requiring continuous automatic operation for electric lock interface and common door operations, such as push-and-go and power close. An enclosed transformer kit allows the unit to easily plug into any 24V outlet. It can also be operated manually in the event of a power failure.

Both models can be mounted on the push or pull side of a door. To protect the door and frame from physical abuse, the ADAEZ units feature a shock-absorbing arm and dynamic braking. Comparable to other door operators, both also detect possible obstructions to ensure doors close safely.

“The 5800 Series are unique door operators that can offer substantial energy-saving benefits to a wide variety of buildings and applications,” says Fran Linsmeier, General Manager for Door Controls, Assa Abloy. “The fact that they are GreenCircle certified and require very minimal effort to install makes this operator a win for architects, facility managers and installers.”
