The S740, Tier 4-compliant 700 frame-size loader is powered by a 75-horsepower engine that doesn’t require a diesel particulate filter (DPF), selective catalytic reduction (SCR) or diesel exhaust fluid (DEF).

The loader boasts the highest rated operating capacity in the under 75-horsepower skid-steer loader class and provides customers with a machine for working in construction, landscaping, agriculture, and buildings and grounds as well as other market segments.

The loaders use a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) to meet Tier 4 emission standards, but without the need for a DPF. The DOC is a special catalyst that reacts with engine exhaust upon contact and transforms combustion byproducts into substances like water and carbon dioxide.

The Tier 4-compliant non-DPF solution was achieved by designing an ultra-low particulate combustion (ULPC) engine. The ULPC is accomplished through a specially designed engine combustion chamber that significantly reduces the amounts of particulate matter created during combustion. Therefore, Tier 4 emissions compliance can be achieved without using a DPF.

The S740 joins the M-Series line, which includes 11 skid-steer models. All Bobcat M-Series loaders share features such as improved power and performance, better visibility and superior operator comfort.

The new S740 is designed to work long hours on demanding jobsites. As a vertical-lift-path machine, the S740 loader can lift loads higher, making it easier to clear high-sided truck boxes and hoppers.

The hydraulic systems on M-Series loaders also have higher standard flow and pressure, providing for increased attachment performance. An optional high-flow hydraulic option of 30.5 gallons per minute gives S740 operators more attachment power, boosting machine productivity.

Like all M-Series skid-steer loaders, the S740 features a unique cab-forward design that moves the operator closer to the attachment and provides unmatched visibility in all directions. The new loader has the largest cab door opening on the market, offering superior visibility to attachments and particularly to the cutting edge and corners of a bucket. Windows on the sides and rear of the cab are larger in size to provide more visibility to the tires and back of the machine. The larger top window makes it easier and more comfortable for the operator when performing tasks like loading trucks or tall hoppers.

Comfortable operators are more productive, so to create a better working environment, the S740 features a large comfortable cab. The loader has a best-in-class pressurized cab with a one-piece seal that goes all the way around the door and fits into a special curved pocket. This minimizes the amount of dirt and dust that might enter the cab, creating more enjoyable working conditions and making it easier to clean the cab.

Operators also have the choice between standard foot pedal hydraulic controls, the Advanced Control System or the Selectable Joystick Controls (SJC).

Simple checkpoints and superior design elements make it easier to perform maintenance at the proper intervals. The auxiliary quick couplers are mounted directly to the front plate of the lift arm to provide a solid mounting, and hoses are routed through the loader arms for better protection. A guard bar extends in the front of the coupler for added protection.

Keeping the loader cool when working long hours also helps prolong service life of the machine. The redesigned cooling system on the M-Series S740 allows for increased efficiency, is easy-to-clean and increases machine performance.
