Air-Shield, an air/vapor and liquid barrier product, has been evaluated by the Air Barrier Association of America (ABAA) and listed on its website.
ABAA is the national voice of the air barrier industry in America, and is dedicated to the education of all parties involved in building construction. It also provides the industry with premier training to both designers and contractors, as well as providing a listing of materials and assemblies fully evaluated by the association. Having become increasingly looked upon as the credible leader, the ABAA ensures products’ standards and requirements are up to code as guidelines continue to change.
“As ABAA has become the voice of the air barrier industry, having a material evaluated by them provides a level of comfort for the consultant that the material being specified, and used, has undergone third party testing and meets all of the material properties being published,” says Russ Snow, W.R. Meadows Building Science Specialist. “In addition, ABAA goes one step further and evaluates the complete air barrier assembly, which is of great importance in ensuring protection against air leakage.”
Air-Shield is part of W. R. Meadows’ building envelope system. It’s a roll-type product that is nominally 40 mils thick. Its self-adhesive membrane is strong and durable, yet remains flexible when surface mounted. It provides excellent protection that won’t shrink, sag, dry out, crack, or rot, and it will resist punctures during installation.
Air-Shield is packaged in rolls of 38.5″ (.97 m) x 75′ (22.86 m). Air-Shield can also be cut to desired width.
