Missed Opportunities When Specifying or Operating BAS
What are the common missed opportunities you see when facility managers are either specifying or operating their BAS?
Historically, facility managers and decision-makers postpone updating their BAS for many reasons. They believe it will be expensive. Or they don’t believe the upgrade will offer significant value. Bringing the BAS up-to-date will provide enhanced business continuity, safety, security and stability.
The importance of getting the right people involved in a BAS project does not end when the system is selected. It’s crucial to provide training for the staff that will be using the BAS. If people don’t know how to operate a system, it’s worthless. When it comes to training, it's important for facility executives to determine the responsibilities specific people will have and to give them the right level of training. An overlooked component of training is the need to sell the new system to users and show them how it will make their lives easier.
