Long-Term Benefits of Smart Buildings
Data gathering, IoT connectivity, building mapping, and energy efficiency are among the benefits to a successful journey to a smart building.
While each facility’s smart building program will be unique to its needs, budget, and overall goals, intelligent buildings will provide several common benefits when successfully implemented.
Intelligent buildings will deliver the benefits of data gathering, IoT connectivity and analysis that promises improved energy use, power and lighting optimization, building data mapping, and more. To achieve those benefits, each intelligent building should follow the same roadmap from assessment to master plan, prioritization, plan, and design. The projects should include sufficient capacity in their final design for future systems and identify an internal champion to ensure their intelligent building is implemented correctly and completely.
The implemented intelligent building system will be able to realize a building’s goals today and be prepared for tomorrow’s expectations as new technologies emerge and become more cost effective.
