Facilities Midwest 2007: More in the Midwest
More sustainability, security and energy coverage highlight event, set for Sept. 18-19 in Rosemont, Ill.
The Facilities Midwest Conference and Expo will return this September to the Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill. This event will provide facility professionals with insights on how to address the challenges facing today’s facilities organizations.
“We’re excited to be returning to Rosemont,” says Wendy Loerch, director of education for Facilities Midwest. “In 2006 we focused on establishing the event; this year we’re enhancing the educational program with more sessions and speakers representing both a regional and national perspective.”
Loerch points to new conference tracks debuting at Facilities Midwest 2007 that will offer specific information on three important topics:
- Sustainability: Design, Operations and Interiors
Case studies and educational seminars targeted toward how green buildings are evolving to become high-performance facilities that increase ROI while lessening their impact on the environment. This track also highlights the role that interior products and operations play in creating an environmentally sound facility from the inside out.
- Security: Redefining Safe
Since 2001, security has become an increasingly prominent issue for building professionals. Today, the focus includes everything from terrorist attacks to workplace violence to theft and even domestic violence. With sessions on best practices, technology, audits and upgrades, this track will provide ample discussion on FM options and obligations for safeguarding facilities and the people inside them.
- Energy and Power: Ensuring Efficiency and Supply
Sessions in this track address how facility professionals can better anticipate the energy needs of tomorrow and address power supply issues. Included are perspectives from suppliers and end-users on deregulation, alternative power sources and technology’s role in improving efficiency.
