Supporting Occupant Health and Wellbeing in the Workplace

Ernst & Young LLP (EY) has long understood and demonstrated the importance of health and safety in the workplace. Workplaces need to feel safe and boost productivity and morale, as well as physical and emotional wellbeing.

As a founding participant in the WELL Enterprise Provider (WELL EP) designation by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), the global professional services firm is committed to integrating wellbeing strategies consistent with the WELL Building Standard into their own workplaces as well as their client’s.

EY brings this to life through inspiring and intentional designs in the workplace, along with supportive policies, that put people at the center. The company recently achieved WELL Certification Gold for three U.S. offices: Los Angeles; Hoboken, New Jersey; and the U.S. headquarters in Manhattan. Additional WELL Certifications are expected this year.

Return to nature

Plants Studies have shown that access to nature improves productivity, and live plants and natural materials are plentiful in the EY offices. These dividers in New York City also provide sound reducing surfaces, contributing to noise reduction in the office.

Eat well, be well

Dining Access to healthy nutrition within the workplace helps employees make better decisions at mealtimes. Cafes and pantries, such as this one in Hoboken, feature food and beverage choices that nourish and energize the body, as well as views to calm and inspire the mind.

Sit or stand

Standing Desk Active workstations, like these sit-to-stand desks in Hoboken, help employees meet many of their health-oriented goals.

Inspirational art

Standing Desk Engaging physical environments can positively affect the mind, such as calming natural elements and inspiring art installations, like this one in Los Angeles.
