Sprayer Backpacks Recalled Due to Fire Hazard

Harbor Freight is recalling its four-gallon battery-powered backup chemical sprayers due to a fire and injury hazard. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall notice, the sprayer can leak chemicals into the battery compartment, causing the battery to overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard. 

There have been eight incidents reported of the product’s battery overheating, including smoking and melting, but thankfully, no reports of injuries yet. 

The chemical sprayers primarily used for groundskeeping to spray weeds are cordless and include a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. 

Facility managers whose crews use this product should immediately pull them from rotation and contact Harbor Freight for instructions on returning the sprayer hose and wand to the nearest store for a refund in the form of a gift card.  

The recall affects about 53,000 products sold at Harbor Freight tool stores nationwide between March 2022 and September 2024.
