new green code regulations for commercial buildings worldwide. The
International Green Construction Code will use the current California
Green Building Standards Code as a key reference document, says the
International Code Council (ICC).
The International Green Construction Code will be presented for public
comment in the Spring of 2010 with publication for adoption in 2012.
The ICC published the California code earlier this year, and it went into effect on August 1, 2009.
In 2008, Governor Schwarzenegger announced the adoption of the
country’s first state-wide Green Building Standards Code by the
California Building Standards Commission. The adopted 2008 code is
currently a voluntary standard and will become mandatory in the 2010
code.
